The Ultimate Roadside Assistance

Jump Leads in Your Boot, Your Trusted Local Garage on Speed Dial = The Ultimate Roadside Assistance Combination!

Vehicle trouble can happen to us all, for example a dead battery at the worst possible time will surely put a damper on your day.  But before you call and pay out for a recovery, there’s a simple solution you might have right at your fingertips: Jump Leads!

These are your secret weapon against a dead battery.  They allow you to “borrow” power from another car to get yours started again.  Here’s how they work and why every driver should keep them in their car:

Why You Should Carry Jump Leads:

Peace of Mind: Knowing you have Jump Leads on hand will avoid stress if your car battery dies unexpectedly.

Save Money: Avoid the cost of a roadside assistance call out.

Be Prepared: Unexpected breakdowns happen. Jump Leads are your answer, and you will be able to handle a common problem yourself.

How to Use Jump Leads Safely:

Find a Safe Spot:  Park your car bumper-to-bumper (but not touching) with a car that has a good vehicle battery.

Cable Connections: Match the colours! Connect the red clamp (positive) on one cable to the positive terminal (+) on the dead car battery. Then, connect the other end of the red clamp to the positive terminal (+) on the good car battery.

Black is for Negative (Safely): Connect the black clamp (negative) to the negative terminal (-) on the good car battery. Important! Don’t connect the black clamp to the negative terminal on your car battery – instead, find a solid metal part of the engine block on your car (not the negative terminal) and connect the black clamp there. This helps prevent sparks.

Start It Up! Start the car with the good car battery and let it run for a few minutes. Then, try starting your car with the dead car battery. It should start.

Recharge and Disconnect: Let both vehicles run for about five minutes to allow your car battery to recharge a bit. Then, disconnect the cables in the reverse order you connected them (black cable on dead car first, then red cables).

NOTE:  If your car doesn’t start after trying these steps, there might be a more serious issue.  In that case, it’s best to call a professional garage for help.

Keeping Jump Leads in your vehicle is a simple and affordable way to be prepared for a dead battery.  Avoid getting stranded!
